I’ve always HAD to take pictures! My experience with photography dates back several years to when I started borrowing my parent’s point-and-shoot digital camera. At the time, I simply used it to take interesting shots around the house and on vacation with my family. It “passed the time”, and a passion for photography was growing inside me. Soon, I was the family expert.
Pursuant to my interest in photography, I received a higher quality digital camera as a birthday gift. I carried it with me everywhere, taking snapshots of anything and everything that I thought was interesting. I was continually fascinated by the effects I would receive from manipulating the lens aperture, f/stop, and other exposure variables.
In the fall of 2006 I started taking photography classes at SUNY. Selected courses included: Reproduction Photography, Photojournalism, and Studio Techniques. The Photoshop classes were what captured my attention. In those classes I learned techniques such as the” rubber stamp tool” for fixing damaged and faded photos.
After my classes were completed, I furthered my education. I went online, got together with other photography students, and bought books. I then discovered topics such as the RAW image format, high dynamic range imagery, and how to stitch together panoramic photos.
Now I’m looking to expand my horizons. My personal goals are to strengthen my core photography skills, to learn new and advanced techniques, and most importantly, to take my photography to a new professional level.
